The Spark
The Innovative Technology Club wanted member sessions that go past demos — workshops where everyone leaves with something running. With club leads Wajeeha and James Melvin, the FRS built the series opener around the thing members ask about most: making a digital self.
The Craft
Members build and customize their own 3D avatars entirely in the browser: Ready Player Me supplies the riggable base, Scaniverse captures the member as source material, and DeepMotion's AI motion capture makes the result move like its maker. ZapWorks and ARKit/ARCore carry finished avatars out into WebAR, and the whole workshop shipped as a Vercel V0-built site.
Outcome
The session outlived the meeting — the workshop lives on as a deployed site members revisit and extend on their own time, turning a one-night club event into standing club infrastructure.
