The Spark

For the World Retail Congress Future Retail Challenge, a multidisciplinary student team set out to reimagine the Nintendo NYC flagship for 2030 as a 'playable spatial layer' — physical retail, augmented reality and gaming converging in one store.

In Process

The team captured the real store on Meta Ray-Bans and rebuilt it as a UE5 digital twin — so every speculative concept could be prototyped against the actual architecture rather than a white-box stand-in.

The Craft

The JoyFrames AR glasses: image prompt → Gemini 'Nano Banana' → Meshy (3D) → Bambu-printed working prototype. Store worlds: many style-transfer passes (Runway/Kling/Gen-4) to reach three convincing overlays — Mario, Poke Mart, Zelda. The paired clips below show the core technique before and after: a raw store plate on the left, its style-transferred spatial layer on the right. The finished 45-second film leads the set.

Outcome

Exhausting many style-transfer techniques was the point: only a few held a coherent themed world across a full moving video, not just a single frame. The result let the team pitch a store concept that would have been prohibitively expensive to visualize any other way.
